This book is a great resource for learning all things revolving around interacting with and dating women. It's also fantastic for learning how to become a better man in general, as all the things that make you more attractive to women are things that will improve your life anyway. This book is great for giving you direction on that sort of thing.Between Tucker and Geoffrey, you get the street smarts and the academic smarts. They complement each other very well, especially if you listen to the Mating Grounds podcast. You also get a sense that there is more than one way to be attractive to women because it's not about turning into a Tucker Max, or James Bond type. There's foundational principles that the book will explain to you and then you can learn how to apply that to your own personality and style to figure out how to attract the type of women you are attracted to.Another thing I love is that this book doesn't feel sleazy at all. Respecting women, not treating them like they're all the same, and understanding their perspective when it comes to dating are all part of becoming more successful with women, and are just important to being a well-adjusted member in today's society. I feel like I can talk to anyone about this book and the things I learned in it, and those in themselves have become really great conversations with women because everyone loves to talk about their dating experiences and understanding how the opposite sex behaves!Apart from just being a good book, it has had good results for me. I started reading this book two or three months ago. Since then, i've improved myself enough so that women get good first impressions of me. I'll catch more women staring at me when I look at them. I try not to overestimate how interested a woman is, but that never used to happen to me before, so I take it as progress. My female friends are more inclined to hang out with me one on one, all my female friendships have gotten much better in general. I get along a lot better with cashiers and baristas at places I frequent. One barista I know even flips out when I come in now, she's so excited to see me and talk to me. Women initiate physical contact more, one of my female friends wouldn't stop trying to hold my hands one night, and I've known her for a few years without anything like that happening. Finally, the reason I finally wanted to write a review for this book is that I went to a party a few nights ago and three different girls kissed me. Before that night, I'd only kissed two girls in my life, and now in a single night I got more action than I had ever previously. I'd say things are working out, and it's only been a few months of working on my life.I still have a long way to go! There are many things I want to change but it's crazy. If a short, not great looking guy can get this done in a few months, you can probably experience the same and more. My dating life feels more like a fun, interesting journey now than a source of frustration driven by an intense fear of being alone.Get the book and definitely listen to the podcast too. Worst comes to worst, you've accidentally become a way better person with much more direction in your life. Oops.
Was expecting this book to be cheesy. (Maybe it's the cover) But instead I was surprised by all the research and careful consideration that went into this book. It's not a pickup book. It's a book on how to be a better man. And boy, does it do that job well. Pick this one up!
99% of all books about how to attract woman are trash. This book is the one exception. Tucker Max and Dr. Geoffrey Miller take it upon themselves to give a science-based approach to dating women without the forced optimism of the self-help gurus and the Smirnoff Ice sleaziness of the "pickup artist" crowd. The target audience seems to be guys in the 18-25 demographic--the kind of fellows who will probably work a cool job in IT, but spent Prom Night playing an Elder Scrolls game. Max and Dr. Miller's secret mission is to help guys become better men overall, and the most helpful parts of the book--the parts I return to the most--are the parts about general self-improvement (spoiler: everything comes down to diet, exercise, and sleep). The advice given is usually applicable to lots of situations outside of dating and it is realistic, as opposed to the hyperoptimistic "impress any woman instantly" guides you find on the internet. The main low point of the book is its tone and writing style. Tucker Max presumably is here to add humor to the book, but instead his writing style adds a touch of bro that becomes more grating every time I read the book. The jokes aren't particularly funny or clever, and the vulgar language and references might be a turn-off for some people who would benefit from the book. overall, though, the substance of the book far outweighs any stylistic flaws. Final verdict: Look past the aesthetic of a B-rate Seth Rogen college party movie to find the best advice on becoming a man whom women want (I felt so sleazy just writing that last phrase).
First I want to say that I'm not a huge fan of Tucker Max. I read I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell and I felt in my gut that the stories were fake. This was confirmed when I saw him on a radio show some years ago and the hosts grilled him as to how he had no proof or evidence that any of his stories were factual. Why am I saying this? To point out that I was initially biased AGAINST this book due to Tucker's involvement. However Geoff Miller is an excellent writer and scientist and I was curious what the two combined would produce.The result? In my opinion it's a near total success and right up there with Mark Manson's book Models as the two best books to purchase if you're looking to improve with women. Again only my opinion but I've read a lot of what's out there and it's not good. Both books push you to become (not pretend to be) an attractive integrated man who doesn't try to seduce women but merely express his attractive and effective traits through honest communication. There's no manipulation or PUA tricks here and with good reason. It's completely inefficient, unethical, and just plain unnecessary. With that said this book and its authors don't pull any punches either. There's no moralizing and preaching down to you if you're only looking for one night stands or bedroom buddies. It's all good and the authors correctly state state that there's no shame in wanting that. You just need to go about it honestly. Both with yourself and with the women you choose to pursue.In short what this book recommends will take work. There's no B.S. advice like "looks don't matter" or "it's all about spitting game." You will need to get your crap together and man up but I'm telling you since I've gone through a lot of these steps they recommend myself that the end result will be something you can and will be proud of if you just commit to doing it. Props to the authors for putting this out.
